I had an opportunity recently to speak with Jim Waddell of AB Home Inspections. Jim is a home inspector in the Birmingham, AL area. He provides home inspections for various reasons but the one I talked to him about was the services provided to home buyers. Jim does a lot of work with new home buyers because he thinks it is important for them to know what they are buying, especially since it is their first home. From an appraisal standpoint it is important for a home to be in the best possible condition because this will help it appraise for top dollar. There are 5 top condition items that buyers should be aware of . We met at a house that he was inspecting recently to look at these items. With the tips that Jim provides, a new home buyer can do some preliminary investigation without the help of a professional. These are things everyone buying a house should be aware of. Once they have narrowed the search down they can then employ the services of a professional home inspector to provide them with valuable information and report that they can use to help negotiate a sale.
