So, I’ve had several assignments in the Mount Laurel neighborhood in the last month and I thought I would share with you some basic statistics I came up with while doing my research.
For those not familiar with Mount Laurel, it is a small town in northern Shelby County, Alabama that is part of the new “planned” communities. I believe the Mount Laurel website actually calls it a TND, or Traditional Neighborhood Development. You can read more about it on their website. It basically comes down to a small community that provides all the basic necessities of everyday living in a small town center, with the residential areas being within walking distance.
There is a variety of home styles and price ranges here. While the sales reported by the Birmingham MLS have been modest, the community appears to be experiencing good health you might say. Look at the table below:
Days on market, sale price to list price ratio, and months of inventory don’t look too bad when compared to the other part of Birmingham and the country. I’ve included a video to give you an idea of what the community is like along with statistical figures included. I hope you enjoy it.

Interesting Tom. My family and I went to Seaside last year for the first time and loved it. We are going back in July. There are very few panned communities in my market in GA.
Planned, not panned 🙂
Awesome Bryan, that is a fun place. My wife is from Panama City so we get by there once in a while.
Very nice video Tom. The homes are beautiful! They don’t look easy to measure though :).
Thanks Bryan. There are quite a variety of homes in Mount Laurel, with some being a little more challenging to measure than others. Do you have any planned communities in your area? The developers of Mount Laurel also developed Seaside in Florida, are you familiar with that development?
